Baraga Township Board
The Baraga Township Board (formally, the Township Board of Trustees) is the main governing body responsible for making decisions and overseeing the operation of the township. It typically includes the supervisor, clerk, treasurer, and trustees, all of whom are elected by residents. The board meets regularly—generally once a month—to conduct township business, review reports, and make decisions that affect the community.
At its core, the Township Board sets policies, approves budgets, and manages township finances, including taxes and expenditures. It also oversees township services such as fire protection, building and zoning administration, and general public infrastructure. The board adopts ordinances and resolutions, ensures compliance with state laws, and helps guide long-term planning efforts like land use and community development. In short, the Baraga Township Board functions as the legislative and administrative authority for the township, working to maintain services and protect the health, safety, and welfare of its residents.
